Campaign Story

My name is Alejandra Martinez-Benedetto, and I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) as well as hypothyroidism. Both are commonly found health conditions in women that affect our opportunities with fertility. These conditions significantly impact our abilities to become mothers naturally. Due to both of these pre-existing conditions I have struggled with my husband to achieve our dreams of becoming parents.

During our 5-year marriage, we have gotten pregnant twice (May 2020 and July 2023). Each time we prayed and were overjoyed at the possibility of having our child in our arms one day. We picked out names and anxiously awaited their due date. Sadly, both pregnancies were lost within months on conception. Resulting in major heartache and a feeling of failure.
My husband and I have not lost hope and continue to try different approaches to addressing these issues. We have followed Doctor’s orders to the very best of our abilities. We have spent thousands of dollars on medical issues and fertility treatments. Our faith has not wavered however this has been a very difficult hardship to bear.

While this difficult time in our lives has resulted in obliterating the majority of our savings. We know in our hearts that our desire to become parents will not be lost. We are ready to become parents, we know it will happen for us. We are ready to provide our children with a safe and loving home. Our number one goal is to make sure that our child is always loved unconditionally and is nurtured. I am a teacher in South Texas, I believe with every ounce of my soul that it is our job to not only guide children but to help them understand how important they are and the value in their life. As for my husband, his line of work has always given him the opportunity to help other people in need. Which is why I feel comfortable looking for help now.

We both do our very best to help people as much as we possibly can. We believe it is our responsibility to do so. At this time we’re asking for help as we continue this journey to build our family. With your donation to our fundraiser we will be able to seek further assistance with our fertility treatments. The financial burden that we have taken on is immense. My medical team recommends IVF to us as the very best option to achieve our dreams of having a child.
